Almost any student, regardless if he/she is an undergraduate or graduate student, is eligible for some type of student employment. Work-Study is a type of financial aid that allows you to earn money while you’re studying at PennWest to assist with education expenses Student employment opportunities are offered through multiple programs: Federal Work-Study, PA State Work-Study, Institutional Work-Study and Graduate Assistantships. The maximum amount a student may earn in a federal work study position will be reflected on the student’s Financial Aid Summary of the myPennWest self-service portal. Work Study amounts should not be subtracted from your university bill as students are paid only for the hours they work via a paycheck.
A federal work study offer does not guarantee a position. To receive a job opportunity, the student must actively engage in acquiring employment. Students are responsible for finding their own work study positions. To view all available work-study positions available, students must log into Handshake, the Career Center’s student employment site. Students are encouraged to check this site often as jobs are posted when they become available.
Students who are receiving a dependent tuition waiver are permitted to work on campus; however, students cannot work in the same division as a family member, regardless of supervisory role.
